Barak: Barak is the lifeline of
Silchar .. might be the very reason why Silchar is existing
today . It flows through the town affecting the culture , the economy and
the general life of all Silcharites . Every year when the sky breaks down
with its shower the river floods the nearby areas sometimes even threatening
to flood the whole town . And rightly so the whole region is called the
Barak Valley. It flows out of the town and is converted to Surma and Kushiara
river near Bhanga Bazar and moves into Bangladesh .
