: what to visit
You can drop in at Silchar somewhere
in October when the Durga Puja is on .. Silchar is at its best during this
period .
Avoid the rainy season if you hate uncertainities. Silchar is surrounded
by beautiful tea gardens all around . You can as well go for trekking to
the Bhuban Pahar( hill ) which is just 65 Km to the
East of Silchar. The temple of Lord
Shiva on the top of the hill is a sight worth watching .
You can also visit
Jatinga, a wonderful and mysterious place .. from the month of November
to the month of February, after dark from 7pm to 10pm and in the afternoon
from 2am to 4am, birds from all
over the India and the World come
here and commit suicide by jumping into the artificial flames lit by the
people. The reason why the birds go for such large scale suicide is still

remains of the Hirimba kingdom ...remember
.. the wife of the great Bhima from Mahabharata ... she was from the very
own place.

March to which a visit from every
